Az első részben egy gonosztevő betervezi, hogy elrabolja a Holdat, de három árva megzavarja elképzelése kivitelezésében. A vége természetesen happy end, Gru, a kis sárga minyon serege és a lányok boldogan élik életüket. A második felvonás ugyan 2013-ban érkezik és a történetről se mondtak eddig semmit, de azért már egy posztert közzétettek. A tavaly nyári kínálat egyik animációs meglepetése a Shrek 4 mellett nem más volt, mint a Gru, ami 7 milliós büdzséjéhez képest 290-et ért el a végkifejletre... lássuk be, ezért megéri a stúdiónak folytatni a szőrös-szívű tudós és minionjainak (a kis sárga izé-bizék) történetét. A két rendező, Pierre Coffin és Chris Renaud visszatér és már egy ideje készítik a folytatást, ami 2013 nyarán meg is jelenhet. A legfőbb szinkronhangok ismét visszatérnek, így Gru (Steve Carrell), Dr. Nefario (Russell Brand), Gru mamája (Julie Andrews), Margo (Miranda Cosgrove), Edith (Dana Gaier) és Agnes (Elsie Fisher) is. A második részben egyébként sokkal több szerepet szánnak majd a minionoknak, mint azt az elődben tették..
