  2. Artist: Oiseaux-Tempête Title: From Somewhere Invisible Year Of Release: 2019 Label: Sub Rosa Genre: Ambient, Post-Rock, Experimental, Psychedelic Quality: 320 / FLAC (tracks) / FLAC (tracks) 24bit-44.1kHz Total Time: 46:30 Total Size: 108 / 265 / 498 Mb Tracklist: 1. He Is Afraid and so Am I (9:13) 2. In Crooked Flight on the Slopes of the Sky (4:09) 3. We, Who Are Strewn About in Fragments (9:37) 4. Weird Dancing in All-Night I (3:45) 5. Weird Dancing in All-Night II (2:56) 6. The Naming of a Crow (13:16) 7. Out of Sight (3:34) Churning slabs of doom-laced rock, stoutly saluting Swans, Sun City Girls and Montreal's esteemed avant-rock hordes while incorporating Mondkopf's blistering electronic noise textures and a keening psychedelic wanderlust "Edited and mixed between Montreal and Paris, 'From Somewhere Invisible' summons the fever of experimentation and the powerful sound of the game coming together in the service of a luxuriant and psychedelic drift. Synthetic brass meets hammered rhythms, string electrics with cracked electronics, saxophone cries and laughter at a pulsing and seminal bass. The fourth studio album and seventh release on the Belgian avant-garde label Sub Rosa, 'From Somewhere Invisible' (2019) embraces the new. Leaving aside for a while the logbooks of long journeys and the field recordings of the previous albums, the music of OISEAUX-TEMPÊTE unfolds as a twilight and prophetic orchestra around G.W.Sok's punctuated voice. The poems of Mahmoud Darwish, Ghayath Almadhoun and Yu Jian question the modern man and his double, the strange and foreign, the fragmented real, the violence, society and its mirror. The eyes we hide behind, the ones we should open. These intimate compasses which can make us rise together in the midst of shrouded ruins; there is always a black raven to defy the horizon. Created in 2012 by multi-instrumentalists Frédéric D. Oberland & Stéphane Pigneul, OISEAUX-TEMPÊTE [wazo-tɑ .p?ːt] - (Storm Petrels) is a constantly evolving collective that, embracing the freedom of improvisation, transcends borders and cultures, straddling the intersection where amplified music ( post / kraut / free-rock, jazz-punk, avant-garde, experimental electronics) collides and finds common ground - a refuge. The consequence of several trips around the Mediterranean Sea - Greece ('S/T', 2013), Turkey and Sicily ('ÜTOPIYA?', 2015), Lebanon ('AL-'AN!', 2017 and 'TARAB', 2018) - the music of OISEAUX-TEMPÊTE is anchored in a tormented present. Sensitive to the beating of hearts, hypnotic beats and explosions of materials, they embrace the community of collaboration, regularly inviting to the studio and tour friends like the electronic producer Mondkopf, the Dutch performer G.W.Sok (The Ex), drummers Jean-Michel Pirès (Bruit Noir, The Married Monk), Sylvain Joasson (Mendelson), Ben McConnell (Beach House, Marissa Nadler), British bass clarinettist Gareth Davis, contemporary ondist Christine Ott and musicians Charbel Haber & The Bunny Tylers, Sharif Sehnaoui, Fadi Tabbal, Tamer Abu Ghazaleh, Youmna Saba, Two Or The Dragon ." 4. Artist: Hello People Title: The Hello People Year Of Release: 1968 Label: Philips Genre: Psychedelic Rock, Pop Rock Quality: Flac (tracks) Total Time: 34:42 Total Size: 207 Mb (scans) Tracklist: 01. It's A Monday Kind Of Tuesday 02. Sunrise Meadow 03. A Stranger At Her Door 04. Movin' And Growin' 05. Paisley Teddy Bear 06. (As I Went Down To) Jerusalem 07. Lamplight, Nightlight 08. Mr. Truth Evading, Masquerading man 09. Paris In The Rain Late-'60s concept band Hello People was put together by New York producer Lew Futterman. Basing his concept on French mime films, Futterman assembled a group of Ohio musicians to make up the group, dressed in full face paint and performing wordless mime routines between their songs during their live sets. The first lineup of the band consisted of guitarist and singer W.S. Tongue, bassist Greg Geddes, keyboardist Larry Tasse, drummer Ronnie Blake, guitarist Bobby Sedita, and flute player Michael Sagarese. Taking on stage names like "Goodfellow" and "Much More," the band was born and recorded its debut, self-titled album in 1967. In 1968, Blake left the group, to be replaced by George Abruzzese. Shortly after the release of their first album, Tongue also left the band, tired of the life of performing and opting instead to become a full-time songwriter. He was replaced by singer/guitarist Pete Weston and a second album, Fusion, arrived in 1968. Fusion featured "Anthem," a song written by Tongue about his time spent in prison for draft dodging. The song was a regional hit in Ohio briefly, before it was abruptly banned for its controversial social commentary. The band played out regularly without ever scoring a hit record, including performances on network television shows like the Smothers Brothers and Johnny Carson's Tonight Show. Another lineup shift found N.D. Smart taking over as drummer around the same time the band relocated to Los Angeles in the early '70s. A third album surfaced in 1971 entitled Have You Seen the Light, and the band played shows with comedians such as George Carlin and Richard Pryor before signing on as part of Todd Rundgren's touring group for a time. Eventually, Weston and Sagarese left Hello People, and the quartet version of the band would go on to record albums The Handsome Devils, Homemade with Teac, Bricks, and Lost at Sea before dissolving in the mid-'70s. 6. Artist: Hooffoot Title: The Lights In The Aisle Will Guide You Year Of Release: 2019 Label: Hooffoot Genre: Fusion / Jazz-Rock Quality: FLAC (tracks) 24/44,1 Total Time: 46:09 min Total Size: 402 MB Tracklist: 1. The lights in the aisle will guide you. 13:05 2. Pablo Octavio - 1st departure. 9:46 3. Pablo Octavio - 7th sea. 8:37 4. Krematorium (Arrival for autocrats). 14:38 This album is intended to be your guiding light through days of darkness. The second album (CD and LP) by Swedish progressive jazzrockers HOOFFOOT mixes spontaneity with carefully crafted themes and the music falls into place as natural and prophetic as the album title; "THE LIGHTS IN THE AISLE WILL GUIDE YOU". Although not a concept album as such, maybe the four instrumental compositions on this album are all about navigating a world in flux? There is definitely a sense of constant change and movement in the music. Just like a spy novel from 1976-1979 you want to find out where it is all heading. Why those specific years? Read more below to find out. Bengt Wahlgren, keyboardist in HOOFFOOT, was looking for an image with connection to HOOFFOOT's home town Malmö to use as an album cover. One day he stumbled upon an oil painting, in a style referred to as super-realism, portraying a street only one block away from his home. The painting, "Nattljus vid Källargatan Kirseberg" took three years (1976-1979) to complete for Malmö artist Thomas Strömdahl and fitted perfectly for the mood - "Malmö noir"- of the new album! The next idea was less realistic than the painting, "Hey, let's re-stage this set including the original car for a photo shoot with the HOOFFOOT members included" Bengt managed to find Thomas Strömdahl, who gave his approval for using the painting as album cover. After listening to early mixes of the new HOFFOOT album, Thomas stated that it reminded him very much of the type of music he listened to at the time of the painting's creation; Can, Amon Düül and Tangerine Dream. What are the odds? The next step was trying to track down the car. Bass player Pär Hallgren succeeded in finding the current owner who explained that the car was parked in an old barn in the countryside. (Strangely enough, very close to the location of the studio where HOOFFOOT recorded their debut album.) Unfortunately, the car was in so poor condition that it could not be transported and used for the photo shoot, Fortunately, the owner had a nearly identical "spare car". The car was transported from the barn and placed on the same spot in the street of Malmö where it´s predecessor stood some 43 years ago. Photographer Jörgen Persson worked with the band with staging and photography and the resulting photo was used for the inner sleeve of the new HOOFFOOT album released in December 2019. For everybody involved, this is so much more than a photo. It is a great story, a process, a reminder that it is worth investing time and effort into something if you know what you want to achieve, regardless of whether it is music or an oil painting. 7. Artist: Various Artist Title: It Came From The Garage! Drifty - Craig & Michael Jack and Bill Wenzel were brothers who owned a music shop in Downey, CA, and between selling gear to up-and-coming bands and records to teenagers digging the latest sounds, they were in a position to know what the kids wanted to hear, and in 1962 they founded the Downey Records label to put promising acts on wax. It Came from the Garage! Nuggets from Southern California is Big Beat's third collection of goodies from the Downey archives, featuring 24 tunes from West Coast rock bands, and while the title might lead some to expect a nonstop blast of paisley and fuzz, this set is more diverse than that. The horn-fueled blast of the Barracudas suggests the influence of R&B-leaning instrumental rockers, Pat & the Californians were a surf act that took a left turn into the same place where the Surfaris ended up on "Be Billy," Johnny MacRae's "Penicillin" could have come from pen of Nervous Norvus' VD-infected brother, and "The Frog" from Sir Frog & the Toads is one of the more memorable dance crazes to fail to grab the fancy of America's youth. But if you're looking for guitar-fueled pre-psych eccentricity, there's plenty of that here from the likes of the Sunday Group ("Edge of Nowhere"), The Last Word ("Sleepy Hollow"), Craig & Michael ("Drifty") ESP Limited ("Tell Me"), and the New Breed ("The Words Ring Back"), while "These Ironic Days" finds the Barracudas making a game stab at folk-rock and Bud & Kathy's "Hang It Out to Dry" is a rare example of sexually integrated high-voltage garage punk. It Came from the Garage! boasts some solid lesser-known sides from genuine teenage rockers, and if a few garage purists may quibble at the results, it's 57 minutes of solid listening for fans of second-era rock. 16. Artist: Ray Davies Title: See My Friends Year Of Release: 2010 Label: Universal Music #2754817 Genre: Rock Quality: EAC Rip -> FLAC (Img+Cue,Log) / MP3 CBR320 Total Time: 00:52:41 Total Size: 427 / 165 Mb (Full Scans) See My Friends is a studio album released by Ray Davies with the collaboration of various other artists on 1 November 2010 in Europe and in early 2011 in the US. The album features new studio collaborations of Ray Davies' compositions, which were originally recorded by his band The Kinks. The album was recorded in Oslo, New York, New Jersey, Chicago and London. Davies stated: "This project came about almost by accident, with some tracks I had to appreciate the style of the other artists, otherwise it would have sounded unbalanced. And I wanted the album to work as an entire listening experience but each track had a life of its own". The album featured the last studio recording by Alex Chilton. See My Friends was released seven months after his death. He previously covered "Till The End of The Day" on Big Star's Third/Sister Lovers. See My Friends reached number 12 in the UK Albums Chart. A tribute album starring the man of honor himself, who also curated the whole affair, See My Friends is a bit of a curious creature. Certainly, Ray Davies' influence is so pervasive he could rope in a number of heavy hitters from a number of different generations. Jackson Browne and Bruce Springsteen sign up for duets; Metallica backs the legend on a rip through "You Really Got Me," while Spoon offers suitably spacy support on "See My Friends"; Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora harmonize on a languid "Celluloid Heroes," and Black Francis comes in to sing "This Is Where I Belong," a song he covered with gusto some 16 years earlier. As it turns out, "This Is Where I Belong" provides a good indication of the energy level of See My Friends in general: the older dudes are comfortable playing with Ray while the newer dudes are respectful, delivering amiably mannered performances. It's all pleasant enough, but it's hard not to wish that more of the record had the kick of "Til The End of the Day," where the late Alex Chilton seems genuinely enthused to sing with his idol. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Music Track List: 01. What Love Means (3:38) Following the success of his hugely acclaimed 2012 Top Three album, 'Standing at the Sky's Edge', Richard Hawley releases his eighth studio album 'Hollow Meadows' via Parlophone Records. Recorded at Sheffield's Yellow Arch Studio in spring 2015, 'Hollow Meadows' sees Hawley return to the classic, sophisticated songwriting and subtle arrangements that made him so widely loved and revered in the first place. Meditating on such themes as ageing, fallibility and relationships, much of the album shares a brooding, yet wistful and romantic atmosphere in keeping with early albums 'Late Night Final' and 'Lowedges', as well as touches of 2009's Truelove's Gutter ('Nothing Like a Friend') and Standing at the Sky's Edge ('Which Way', 'Welcome the Sun'). Humph Released by Blue Note Japan, this double-disc set contains both volumes of the Genius of Modern Music albums recorded by Thelonious Monk in 1947 and 1952 and released by the Blue Note label on 10" discs before the advent of the 12" LP. These CDs also contains all existing alternate and unreleased takes from those recording sessions. That said, these are not Monk's complete recordings for Blue Note, which exist in two separate boxes from the label and the long out of print Mosaic imprint. Nonetheless, for anyone deeply interested in the composer and pianist's process, these sessions showcase Monk in commanding company as a bandleader. Other notables who appear here are jazz greats Art Blakey, Max Roach, Shadow Wilson, Idrees Sulieman, Sahib Shihab, Lucky Thompson, and Lou Donaldson, to name just a few. Given the price tag on this set, it is recommended that the earnest consumer take note of the U.S. Blue Note label's The Complete Blue Note Recordings, which contains four discs and an extended annotated booklet it generally sells for a far less dear price point. Van Morrison - Walk And Talk 48. Van Morrison - The Wobble 49. Van Morrison - Wobble And Ball The Bang Sessions, as most fans of Van the Man know, present Morrison when he is very good and when he is absolutely wretched. The good, of course, is his first solo album, Blowin' Your Mind, an engaging set of ambitious folk-rock which borrows equally from R&B and jazz, winding up with songs as ebullient as "Brown Eyed Girl" and as haunting as "T.B. Sheets," with a lot of ground covered in between. The bad is the songs that he wrote and recorded in a bid to get out of his contract with Bang obstinate, stream-of-conscious ditties and nonsense that he wrote on the spot; it's interesting in theory, but nearly unlistenable in practise. By bringing together both in one collection, appropriately entitled The Complete Bang Sessions, Purple Pyramid has given collectors an easy way to get it all at once. And this is for collectors it might not be deluxe packaging, but it's a well-packaged digipack with good sound, and only collectors will want all of this in their collection. Other fans of Van will be better-served by either his debut or the Epic/Legacy Bang Sessions CD, since it contains the cream of the crop, leaving the 30 "demos" behind, since they are the ephemera Morrison intended them to be. They are noted for their combination of brass and rock band instrumentation. The group recorded songs by rock/folk songwriters such as Laura Nyro, James Taylor, the Band and the Rolling Stones as well as Billie Holiday and Erik Satie. They also incorporated music from Thelonious Monk and Sergei Prokofiev into their arrangements. They were originally formed in 1967 in New York City. Since their beginnings, the band has gone through numerous iterations with varying personnel and has encompassed a multitude of musical styles. The band is most notable for their fusion of rock, blues, pop music, horn arrangements and jazz improvisation into a hybrid that came to be known as "jazz-rock". Unlike "jazz fusion" bands, which tend toward virtuosic displays of instrumental facility and some experimentation with electric instruments, the songs of Blood, Sweat & Tears merged the stylings of rock, pop and R&B/soul music with big band, while also adding elements of 20th-century classical and small combo jazz traditions. Formed in Mönchengladbach by classically trained art student Jürgen Dollase in autumn 1971 as Blitzkrieg, with an international cast of: American Bill Barone, Dutchman Jerry Berkers, and local friend Harald Grosskopf. After only a couple of concerts, they were quickly spotted and eagerly signed up by Pilz. But, there proved to be a problem, also touring Germany at the time was a British band called Blitzkrieg, so a change of name was needed. They decided on Wallenstein, a notorious character of the Thirty Years War. Wallenstein's debut LP was classical rock with the accent on power, totally befitting the title Blitzkrieg. Further records saw a shift in focus, folkier and more diverse on Mother Universe, which was more Jerry Berkers show (after which he left and went solo), and then the definitive "Symphonic Rock Orchestra Wallenstein" sound of their Kosmische Musik LP's. After Jürgen and Harald collaborated with Ash Ra Tempel members on the Cosmic Jokers' albums, Harald departed and there was then a gradual all-change except for Jürgen, reincarnated with the not bad No More Love before moving into pop music.
